Our assisted living and memory care community, Grand Oaks of Palm City (GOPC), recently achieved a deficiency-free survey from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), and we couldn’t be more proud of the dedicated and compassionate staff members for making it possible.
AHCA, which is responsible for licensing and regulating healthcare facilities throughout Florida, routinely conducts surveys of assisted living facilities (ALFs) to help ensure residents receive quality medical care in a safe, comfortable environment. The average number of deficiencies for a nursing or assisted living facility is seven, making Grand Oaks of Palm City’s deficiency-free results all the more impressive.
“I’m so very proud of our staff for this amazing accomplishment,” said Laurie Allen, Grand Oaks of Palm City Administrator. “Earning a zero deficiency rating shows how committed we are to providing our residents with the best possible care in the best possible environment.”
The unannounced re-licensure survey included AHCA field officers reviewing numerous administrative policies and procedures at Grand Oaks, including medical records, staffing reports, and charting documentation. The field officers also conducted interviews with employees, residents, family members and visitors. Upon completion of the in-depth inspection, AHCA reported that Grand Oaks had zero deficiencies!
However, the recent AHCA survey results aren’t surprising to many VNMC and Grand Oaks of Palm City employees, residents, or their family members. GOPC has received zero-deficiency AHCA survey results in the past, giving them a notable track record of healthcare and operations excellence among ALFs. Resident Barbara G. says she chose to live at Grand Oaks of Palm City because her friends heard it was a great place to live, and she agrees. “I’m so happy here,” she says.
At GOPC, residents enjoy chef-prepared meals, off-site trips, creative activities, lasting friendships, and so much more. GOPC also has a specialized Memory Care center for residents with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other memory-related disorders.
